On this page we will present news about our A-litter. Each puppy also has its own page. Click on the photo of the puppy below and read about the puppy and look at the photos we publish.

On January 12, 2012 Justéen gave birth to eight puppies. The birth was quickly over and without complications. She took good care of her puppies.

This is our A-litter and all the puppies will have a registered name beginning with  ”A”. All names will also have an Italian connection, as we love Italy and Justéen’s master for several years worked with an Italian company in Bologna.

We want those who buy a pappy from us to participate in a Mental Behaviour Test (sw: mentalbeskrivning – MH old in Sweden or a corresponding test abroad) when the puppy is slightly more than 12 months. The reason for this is than one shall be able to evaluate the litter mentally and that the owner of the dog shall be able to use the results of the test in his relation to the dog. To x-ray a dog of a breed like Hovawart to find out the status of its hips goes without saying and obviously we want this done on all puppies in the litter when they are around 18 months of age.

At the age of seven weeks the puppies will be tested in a puppy mental test which helps us to evaluate the behavior of the puppies at this tender age. This little test is developed by the Swedish Working-Dog Association and is performed by a trained person who has not met the puppies before. This test gives guidance and is one of the factors to consider when the decision is made which puppy will suit which future owner best. This is a very important decision, because one shall hopefully live together with the Hovawart during at least 12 years.

A puppy from Widhovs is SEK 11.000. This includes a membership during one year in the Swedish Hovawart Club (or equivalent in another country) for a buyer not being a member already and also includes all assistance we can give in the everyday life of the dog, at future test and on other occasions. Certainly we want much contact with the puppies and their new families and an opportunity to meet them as often as possible.

Hovawart is a lively, joyful and intelligent dog which loves its family. It has to be given the opportunity to work to be happy. If you want to read more about the breed in English have a glance at inter alia the home-page of the British Hovawart Club, www.hovawart.org.uk. Interested in a puppy - please contact us.

Puppies

Playing in the early spring.

Quax visiting on February 22. Please click here for more pictures.

The puppies are now a little more than four weeks old. A lot has happened. They eat “real“ food, are interested in toys, go out in search of adventure and like visitors. Now also old Auntie Inke is allowed to baby-sit.
